In the song Chrome by VNV Nation?
"They'll never say they feel what you feel
That they can see the world you see
And in their faces, their expressions
A million faces, a million lies"
As in athieism? a question of it there is no God? I feel sometimes that Christians and Catholics only follow their religion because they were brought up in it, and as a result they think "They'll never say they feel what you feel", and that they do "see the world you see", and that there is a "million faces, a million lies". I'm not sure what the song is based on, but that is what I feel.

I'm sure that even the most devote, or zealous sometimes forget and let slide their idea of religion, if only for a moment- to think of something at hand, that's why People need "What Would Jesus Do" rings, roseries and reminders. In that time when one forgets, takes for granted, they'll be reacting to what they have in front of them. It's human. "No man is an island unto themself, for we are all connected by a thousand invisable threads" - Herman Melville. We all are alike with threads that bind us similarly; you have an @$$, and a mother, I have them too, even if I don't think about it. While some may find joy in god others may find more joy in blue skys with nothing in them.
Yes, we learn what we are taught and not what we're not, but you ought give thought to what you sought. People, in their faces show who they are; we all smile, and frown, or wince in pain, and sigh in relief. And while beliefs may be inaccurate almost lies, it's truth to them. In their faces is truth, even in the corner of the eyes of a strained smile lies the truth of how they truly are. Smiles are universal to humans, even to the most remote of us. And people feel; It doesn't get much truer than that.

though I feel numb often, I feel my numbness is only a feeling caused by lack of stronger feelings. Not nessesarily because "God" hasn't brightened my day. Well, at least I have an @$$ and a mother.

I didn't become a Christian until I was 43 years old. I had never been to church except to attend someone else's wedding. I used to be an agnostic because I would only believe for sure in what could be proved and I knew that scientists couldn't explain where the matter in this universe first came from or how inanimate matter suddenly became alive.

I became a Christian after I grew despondent looking at this world and seeing that there was so much pain and death and disease and there didn't seem like there would ever be an end to it. So I just decided I might as well party hardy until it was my time to go.

I ended up becoming homeless and that was when I can look back and see that God was waiting for me to come to the end of myself before calling me to Him. I haven't had a drink or a drug in almost 5 years and I now live a life that has significance and meaning. I can't change the whole world, but by spreading the word of hope that comes from trusting in Jesus I can be used by God to change one life at a time for the better.

I can't speak for other people who were raised in a religious home. In the house where I was raised my "church key" that was handed down to me by my parents was the bottle opener on my key chain. I used to think that religious people just believed in God because they were raised that way and they wanted to believe. Now I know that there is truth that leads to ever lasting life in the gospel message.

if i may be so bold as to answer...

there is such things as fake christians and catholics... the ones who go through the motions and think that is enough.

and on the other side of the fence, there's others who force it to be real. These are usually those 'extreme believers' who won't give other who are not like them a chance.

The real ones have a real faith... something they've experienced... and, for the most part, real believers are pretty rare because they're not usually here... they're out there doing things instead of smacking the bible over people's heads.

So to answer your question, I do feel what you feel. Bad things, good things, depressing things, frightening things... all invoke emotions -- the difference lies in how we deal with them. instead of carrying them on our own shoulders, we give them over to be dealt with.

Million faces, million lies... this, i would say, is more of a closed-minded thought. I could be flat-out honest, but if a person doesn't want to hear it, it wouldn't matter what I say, it would be written off as a lie.

I see the world as lost and putting hope in things that will never satisfy. Fun is only fun for so long. Highs are only a temporary solution. "something to do" will only last for a few fleeting moments. Which, from what I've observed and heard, is pretty close to what people say. (eg: "i'm bored" "I want to do something fun" "let's go get high" -- and they do the same the next day... and the next...)

I guess it really depends on how you see things... no one person's point of view is the same as another. maybe my red isn't as vivid as yours, my hearing as good as yours, my sense of touch and smell as sharp. I guess the starting point is to see that everyone is different... and respect that.

I feel the same way and I LOVE that song!
But I DO think that there ARE people who feel the way that I feel, and who are at least WILLING to see the world the way that I see it. I call these people Human and don't apply any labels to them. Those who rigidly apply lables to themselves, such as "Christian" or "athiest" or "striaght" or "gay" or anything else that is ultimately divisive are generally people who DO NOT see the world as I see it, nor are they likely to feel what I feel and so I generally tend to avoid them in my most intimate day to day dealings.

I have never heard of that group or song, but it sounds like one of the many out there trying to lead everyone away from God.There are a lot of lies in the world, but we as christian are to enter the world and let out "light" shine into the darkness to run out evil. I will be praying for you.

I don't get advice from music. That's sinful. If you need comformation of your faith, talk to your local priest. VNV Nation is merely a false idol, don't be swayed.
