Do something relaxing before you try to go to bed - something to get your mind to slow down. Maybe go for a walk, do some knitting, brush your dog, or something. Something mundane and repetitive will help you slow down and relax. Then put on some soft music or other background noise (a fan?) or have something warm to drink.

Something else that I do when I can't sleep is kind of a self-hypnosis or relaxation method...we used to do it in drama before opening night of our musicals. Lay down, get comfortable and then mentally just work through your body from your toes up and feel yourself relax each part, one at a time. Feel all of your stress leaving your body. Focus on sinking into the bed and just letting go. I always fall asleep by the time I get to my stomach!

Try your best.

Go for a walk in the evning. Eat before 7 p.m. (Dinner , Supper).
Drink water. Read one of your favourite boooks. You`ll go to sleep. Relax.

If you are stressed out then you can`t get sleep. I was stressed out then I calmed myself now I can sleep well.

Don`t sleep in the evening or afternoon.

Why can`t to go to a doctor if you are so concern.

You can use that time for something useful. But your brain need at least 6 hrs of sleep.

You can change your diet and exercise. Try that one. I would say reading a book is the easiest way.

But better to go to a doctor if yiu are still not satisfied or getting any results.

I asked the same question five days ago for four days and I still can't sleep but the best answer i heard was drink something warm or take a hot shower or bath, and listen to music quitely.

They say warm milk helps.

Buy some Melatonin, works great for me.

If it's really hard to get to sleep, I take antihisthamine, too.

Watching network TV helps a lot (really boring). Stay away from cable, especially HBO.

Try turning a fan on -- the noise lulls you to sleep.

i have serious insomnia. i use this stuff called "simply sleep", a completely safe, non-habit forming medicine that you can buy at CVS. it can help with those sleepless nights, usually for me it takes about 2 hours to kick in but i'm sure with others it can take as little as 15 minutes.
