I wouldn't worry about that. Even if you're a religious zealot, even they don't know for sure when the world is going to end (the Bible says that only God, and not even Jesus or the angels know).

Of course, that hasn't stopped people from trying to get the end to come sooner, and chances are we're going to wipe ourselves out first (via nuclear weapons) before "the end" comes for us.

In scientific terms, our world won't end until the Sun uses up all its hydrogen (scientists estimate that it's been around for about 5 billion years, and has about another 5 billion to live before it becomes a red giant).

It would suck here because the Earth would either get swallowed up by the sun as it becomes larger, or even if it didn't and let's say we got lucky and the sun doesn't fry the planet to a crisp first.

In that case, the world would end when the sun dies, because it won't emit any more heat or light (vital to survival of life on Earth), and our planet will then become cold and dead, and anything that's still alive will eventually die as well (which is why I hope humanity by that point has figured out a way to move out of the solar system and find a way to reach other earth-like planets).

That's what I know, and personally, I find the "scientific" explanation a little more believable. I sure would hate to see what happens to Earth when the sun is no longer around.

If you had asked this in the religion section I would have given you a quote by Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I will just give a guess and say sometime in the next 15 to 30 years. It's a lot closer than it used to be, but this estimate is based on personal opinion. Have a happy day!

When you die for you anyway. Other than that when the sun expands and expel ls it's outer layers in about 4billion yrs I think. Or when we pass through the rays shot out of a quasar or get hit by a huge comet or asteroid.

only GOD the KING IN HEAVEN the TRUE RULER OF EVERYTHING knows. i know of this theory that in about 5 billion years the sun will become a red giant or a supernova or whatever but i don't think it will because it isn't that big, i think it'll just become a white dwarf and then the earth will be too cold for human existance, but who knows? oh ya, GOD!!
