I have just started to work in my local shop, the owner says that I have to buy an apron/tabard to protect my clothing. I am quite tall and I don't know what to get all I know is it has to be dark blue! It's a 50/50 split on what the other staff wear!

If you think I should wear an apron do you think I should tie it behind my back or in front? Or do you think a tabard would be better.

I second that. Any protective equipment should be provided by the employer or you should get an allowance to cover the cost.

Get yourself a tabbard, with poppers - then you won't have to worry about the ties coming untied and dangling everywhere.

Contact Alexandra Workwear - they supply nursing, catering, cleaning, reflective clothes, safety footwear. They sell all sizes and lengths.

As you will have bought it yourself, when you leave you can take it with you.

Cut a hole on a bin liner and wear that until your boss buys you the correct gear.

If protective clothing is required, your employer should supply it.
