I say be yourself. And ask for the raise. Explain what your assets are and y you are valuable and need a raise

To get a raise that way the brown nosing would have to be continual and absolute.
Most bosses don't have the power to give raises, it comes from higher up the food chain.

lol... i dont know what these people are telling you. YES ITS GREAT. if you kiss *** to get a raise, then fine! DO IT! You get paid to be useful, and get hired if the boss needs you. If you mkae the boss feel good around you, then they will enjoy your presence and wil want you around. If you need money, they will give it because your more compatable with the boss then the other guy who answered no to this question on this page.
If you want money... you have to take it in anyway possible. Your not prostituting yourself, your just making yourslef likeable in the work force and there is nothing wrong with that.

Depends...
1) Is the boss a self serving jerk with an ego problem. Would it get me money and not destroy my peer/friends....then yes. Why not? I'lll be quitting soon anyway.
a)...would I hurt my co workers or lose their respect by doing that? Not on your life.
2) Is the boss a friend. Why would I have to?
3) Is the boss a nornal person that I can talk to rationally. Why would I have to?

No, there is not satisfaction from getting a position you did not earn. There is nothing like working hard for a position and knowing that you have earned it.
