The Carolina Wren. In South Carolina it is against the law to disturb, move, destroy or otherwise interfere with a Carolina Wren nest. They are fun to watch when they are feeding their young and trying to coax them to leave the nest. We live in the country and they build nests in the most peculiar places. They have built in the spare tire well of our truck and under the hood of our tractor and in one of my hanging flower pots ( begonias ). We enjoy feeding and watching all the birds in our neck of the woods. If you are interested in all sorts of birds, a good place to start is a magazine called' Birds and Blooms'. Check out their web site. Good luck and I hope you get plenty of answers.

The Maine state bird is the black-capped chickadee.
Black-capped chickadees are cheerful birds which can be identified by their characteristic call, which lends their name - chick-adee-dee-dee. They are also called titmouses, dickeybirds, and tomtits. The bird’s markings are gray, black, and light brown, with white cheeks.
