I purchased a new construction home two years ago and I've had extra bricks and ceramic tiles left over from the builder (Pulte). Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should with those extra bricks and ceramic tiles?

Some possible ideas: I've seen my neighbors use their extra bricks for landscaping their yards. As for the ceramic tiles, I was told that I could use them for my bathroom by ripping about the linoleum or to replace any chipped tiles in my kitchen. But I'm looking for other possible uses where they can be better utilized.

Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!
Wayne

You should save a few in a safe location, just in case you ever need to repair any of your existing brick or tile.... It is better to use brick and tile from the same lot as your original construction, as later lots most likely, will not match in color... they will be slightly off.

As for ideas on how to use them.... you could make "hot plates", aka trivets, for your kitchen, using the tile... Or, perhaps do some painting on a few, and hang them in the room where they are laid.

Bricks can be used to line the perimeter of flower beds, make or line pathways, a mailbox post.... all kinds of things... hehehe... just look around your home, and get creative. =D Ive even used bricks (heated in an oven) to help defrost freezers, and as foot warmers in sleigh or wagon rides, heheheh.

Have Fun!

Save a couple of bricks and tiles to replace ones that will crack later.

You can make planters and window boxes out of them. A barked up, ugly table looks great painted black or white with a tile working surface. Tile is a much better floor surface than linoleum. You can use bricks and planks to build bookshelves or stacking areas for wine or supplies or outdoors to stack firewood off the ground where it won't get wet and rot.

Keep them, if you ever have tile or brick damage you will have a perfect match, that is probably why they left it in the first place.

after you find a place to store them, call the builder and thank them for being nice enough to think about future repairs, most builders take all of the extras and leave you to find matching tiles and bricks when you need them.

If any of the Brick or tile work chip or break, you Will have an exact match. Save it! You would never find another brick or tile of the same color.

as a tile layer for yrs i always leave extra for the home owner. tile patterns change as much as computers. they have new designs every year so keep them in case u drop something on one and break it. trust me its better to have the tile and not need it, then not the tile it and needing it.
my guess is the bricks r the same thing

build a barbeque pit in the back yard w/ the left over brick - you could mortar the tiles onto for a decorative touch - if they are small enough.
