How do I make the Upload Speed Faster on uTorrent?

Because I've heard that the faster the Upload, the faster the dowload. Sorry if I got this completely wrong, I'm new to all of this. The Seeds say 22(74) and the Peers say 74 (411). Any advice on how I can get this to download pretty fast? My dowload speed right now is about 10kb per second. Please Resond, thanks!!

turn off other applications using the internet

change the port it uses from 6881 to something else (your ISP might throttle that port)

only DL one or two torrents at a time.
