I'm 17 and going to my first concert on September 2nd. The band is Tool. I'll be with both my parents and on the lawn in the very back. I just wanted to know what to expect. Like what the crowd might be like, how soon in advance of the show to arrive, what to bring and how long a concert with one band usually lasts. Thanks!!

Concerts like that always have opening bands. So be prepared to sit/stand through those other sets. Typical sets often range from 20-30 minutes for openers, and 45 minutes for the headliners, in this case Tool.
In that type of venue all you really need (or all i ever take) is a camera and comfortable clothes, and based on where you said you'll be sitting, Id arrive about 20-30 minutes before; also depends on parking, etc.
The crowd will probably be kids your age, maybe a bit older.

First I want to say that you're very lucky to get a chance to see Tool. I haven't had the pleasure of catching one of their shows myself (not yet at least) but I hear that they make for a very intense live show.

I'm sure there will be some assholes in the crowd, there always are (especially if the venue sells alcohol) but Tool fans are generally intelligent folks and will respect one another as well as the band.

For the length of the show and what to bring, it depends on where you're seeing the show and if there's opening groups or not. Don't worry, though, I think you'll have a great time.

A concert these days doesn't last more than 2 hours if you are only seeing one band. If there is an opener , 3-31/2 hours. You do want to get there , at least a 1/2 hour to 45 min early. You will want to use the bathroom, get a drink, find where you are going to sit. If your parents are going - they might want to bring ear plugs if they are sensative to loudness. Tool rules, saw them at lollapolooza years ago! Since you are on the lawn, usually ampitheaters allow you to bring a blanket to sit on. You might want to pack gear in case there is a chance of rain, check your weather that day. If its going to be hot , just dress appropriately. Its best to be comfortable, and try to look cool at the same time. Black is the color , of course. Hope you have a great time. Don't forget your tickets!

Oh my god ,my first concert was when I was 8 years old,but thats because music is the most important thing in my life. Why Tool? and why ALL the way in the back? Concerts are loud and sometime very crowded. It is a great rush and it is something you always remember You can't bring your own food or drinks.it usually lasts 2-3 hours, depending on how many songs they have.show up 20 minutes early

tool is gonna be a mixed crowd (their heavy and alternative) so you'll have swayin hippies and mega headbangers.... they'll prolly be moshing, so unless you wanna get wild you'll wanna stay at the back. Being tool things wont get outta control, they gotta good track record(unlike motley crue). I hope your parents like loud music....lol. I think its really cool their taking you \m/><\m/ rock on babe! have fun, stay safe

Sorry to hear you're wasting a "first" on another overrated band, but have fun.
