I live in slc, Utah, and on Tuesday we experienced a storm like I've never seen before. The weird part was it was seriously isolated. It stuck around the millcreek area, and just tore things up. I didn't even know what was happening it all went so fast. My kids told me rain was coming through my daughters window and I told them to close it. That's when this loud banging noise struck my bedroom window. I thought the windows were going to blow out. I ran over and the rain was coming down so hard, i couldn't even see our truck 5 feet away in our driveway.
It threw hail and rain through my daughters room from one end to the other. It was so loud we had to yell at eachother just to hear.
It ripped down a 40 ft. pine tree in our backyard which took down the power, phone and cable lines. It ripped down almost every fence in our yard, shingles on our roof. We're still cleaning it up. It tore up our whole neighborhood. How did the survivors of Katrina handle so much worse?

First, thank God nobody was hurt in your situation. Hurricane's are not what they seem like when you watch it on TV. The pressure drops and you have a massive headache. Imagine what you experienced with sustained winds so strong you can't even stand in it or you would be blown away. It last for hours not minutes or seconds. The damage was horrible in the path of Katrina. People are still trying to dig out from that one and the way it looks they may never be done. I can truly say the Katrina victims are in the true sense Survivors! Good Luck and God Bless You...

Storms can get violent especially up in Utah. I know I used to live up there. Sometimes I miss the cool air up there. Salt Lake City is way up above sea level. You're closer to the clouds. When you get storms you really get them. I was use to it, because I had been stationed in the Phillipines and in Okinawa. I've been through a manya typhoon. The first ones are always scary. Just seek cover somewhere and ride it out.
