Well people do not know when they are going to die. We are not promised the next second and I could die right in the middle of typing this answer and therefore would not have the time nor the chance to tell my loved ones goodbye. I am sure that if they knew they were about to die then they probably would have tried to tell there loved ones goodbye. Hope this helps you.

I think that you ask this question because of a pain you are feeling right now. First let me say that I sympathize with your loss, I have lost a few loved ones in my short time here, and it always seems to make the world stop and start anew.
Next, I will answer your question: If a death is quick and unexpected, the person was unaware that this was going to happen, but it is important that they have no regrets and be able to move on. Know that they loved you and goodbye's are only temporary.
If the death was slower and more expected, it is a bit different. I have heard things about dying people, seen them myself in two of my loved ones and been close to it myself. There is process that goes on with the person, both physically and mentally. They start letting go of things. Everything in this world starts to slip away from their thoughts and becomes un-important to them. It even gets to a point where they can maybe see you or hear you and not know who you are. I am really sorry if this pains you to read it, but I feel I must be honest. A slower death is like being born, but in reverse. It is a slipping away of the mind and thought and becoming more attuned with the present moment, the now. In the absolute present moment, nothing really exists, it is only after we process our senses through our thoughts that we make sense of the world and judge it. Once that ability slips away, it is like an emptiness.
I apologize again if I was esoterical in this, but I hope it brings a new understanding for you. Contact me if you want to chat. You have a friend here if you wish.

My mother always use to tell me not to say good-bye. Just say - so long or I'll be seeing you. She died in 1992 and during her last moments she couldn't speak due to the tube down her throat but I know she wouldn't've said good-bye. That's too definite. She also told me not to visit her grave because she wouldn't be there. I've never been there. It's hard to know when a person will die and it's sad when they do. Especially when it's family. Just know in your heart that if they could have, they would have.

They don't mean to.........I don't ever think they want to die. My grandmother died I never ever met her. So i didn't ever get a hello.
I wish they wouldn't die period but that's just my opion. And some of the ones that don't say good bye. Probably died trying to protect the ones that they truely loved.

They don't know they're going to die. And because that's life. That's why you have to learn to love every moment and not take things for granted.

Because a lot of times death comes unexpectedly! You don't know it's going to happen until it does! Then it's too late to say goodbye. So tell everyone you care about that you love them because tomorrow might be too late!!!
