If she has a video ipod you could buy her the itunes gift certificates either at the store or online through itunes.com then she can download music, music videos, etc. Or you can buy her a gift certificate to the movie theaters so she can go with her friends as often as she likes. I've done both of these form daughter and she is now 13.

If you buy a cell phone you have to consider are you purchasing her own plan, is she going on your family plan, is it going to be pay as you go option. What sort of restrictions are you going to put on her as far as the use of the phone? What I mean by that is do you have a certain amount of peak minutes, so if you have a family plan is she going to use all the peak minutes yacking at her friends, and what about texting, buy a text plan or not buy a text plan. If restrictions or grounds rules aren't set you could end up with a hideously large cell phone bill. So it's something you really need to think about. And the big question, does she really and truly need a cell phone or is it just because everyone else has one. My friends daughter was constantly waking up saying she was tired. Come to find out she was texting a boy all night, and I do mean all night long - 1am, 2am, 3am 4am, etc. and the bill for the text messaging was outrageous not to mention that she was texting during school hours as well.

For the past 2 years my daughter has gotten from me and friends, gift certificates for movie theaters, itunes, Claire's, etc.

Hope this helps!

Well she is 12 and pretty soon she is going to end up with a cell phone i think now u should get her a good pre paid cell phone so she can learn how to spend her mins. so when she is older she wont go over and the bill be soo high many kids go over and leave there moms withh 300 $ phone bill... i think that would be a good way to learn and understand and she wont even know it lol....a bike is also good but at 12 she might grow out of the bike riden pretty soon i know i did....a gift card is also a good idea for a 12 yr old girl so she can buy what she wants at the stores she likes......and there is also MONEY lol kids love money.....gl and have a great b-day to her

Get her a cell phone. You don't have to get something outrageously expensive like a razr, just a simple phone to show you trust her. Trust is the best present a girl could want, and what better way to show your trust than a cell?

wait, 12 with a iPod video?! I am 14 and I just got a iPod nano. She already has a lot more than she should. Get her makeup or somthing. If you get her too much big stuff, she will take you for granted and you dont want that.

I don't have any daughters but hey I was that age once.

My hair salon offers a preteen package that offers a new cut and style. A cosmetologist then sits with the young ladies and teaches them how to select and apply cosmetics properly.

Treat her and her best gf to a spa visit and then take them out for a meal so they can show-off the results.

You should get her a cell phone, most parents think that there child is to young, but its not that big of a deal. otherwise get her a gift card to abercrombie or hollister if she likes that sort of clothing.Or if she's into makeup get her a gift card for a place with nice makeup like mac.

I think you should get her a cell phone. I'm twelve and I remember that at my school if you're anybody you have to have a cellphone. It has to be cool but cheap too. It doesn't have to be a razr or anything. You just have to get a phone that will keep her interest for a while.
