Short-term memory involves recalling details that have been cataloged seconds or minutes before. Examples include reciting a phone number, recognizing a new face, or repeating a list of 3 objects seen 2 or 3 minutes earlier. So short term memory loss would mean that you are unable to recall things that happened only a few minutes ago.

I would say I have short term memory loss. It happens constantly. Something will come to me to remember- and then it's gone. I've been using the "to do list" or recording short messages on my phone lately to help me. I haven't really asked a doctor about it. I mainly blame it on lack of sleep and my kids driving me crazy. They say one word and I lose total train of thought. They're 3 and 8 (boys).
