Log in, then click on the following in this order. Start, control panel, user accounts, your log-in account, change my password. Then go ahead with it. There's also a cheat if someone changes your password. At the blue-ish screen where you click on your login name thing, hold alt+cntrl, then double tap delete. Login as "Administrator", then go to user accounts on control panel again, click on your name and change your password, without needing the original. What you do next is open up your browser, go to yahoo! answers, go to vote, select this subject and vote for this answer, because that was one amazingly and unneccaserily accurate answer, buddy!

Assuming windows is prompting you for a password you simply hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE and you will ahve the option to change password. this will ask you for your old PW, new PW, and confirm.

If you do not have a PW prompt (in XP) go to the my computer control panel --> change the way users logon and off.
