And the chance of us have advance warning of the event is minimal, based on the resources being used to observe our skies.

Its the NEO (Near Earth Object). World scientist know the timetable, but they don't want to make it public to avoid widespread panic. Just analyze their effort of building a space station out there in space. That space station is armed by sophisticated laser beams capable of destroying any size of asteroid before it enter our atmosphere. If ever, particles of that asteroid manage to penetrate, patriot missiles and other similar interceptor missiles will intercept it in midair before reaching the land to save millions of lives and properties. What we could do is to pray that such things won't happoen.

If we keep our present trend, it will happen shortly. Although we have human bodies the whole world is progressing in cruel wild natures. When that is perfect, it will happen.
