I agreed with the first answer. By connecting all the lamps in parallel, when one the bulb fails the rest of the bulb still functioning. This is the same connection for those footpath and park lighting.

If they were connected in series, all would go out if one light bulb burned out or the lamp stopped working.

It depend on what voltage you use. You can series 2 110Vac ac bulb here to make 220Vac. Normally those bulb in the US or Japan and Taiwan using 110Vac. So if you series a normal bulb here 220 then it will be very dim or not light up. Total Voltage = V1+V2.
