Of course it is no excuse for his actions but he did make alot of Hollywood executives angry with his anti-semite outbursts. I come from a jewish family and i couldnt care less what a guy like him would think about the people in my life. But the main reason ppl are so angry is because if alcohol does bring out the truth...then he is talking about his co-workers and directors he may have worked with in the past. The entertainment industry in the US has a huge economic background from the Jewish community.
By the way he has been into rehab for his drinking before and now he has gone into it once again. If he had learnt the first time then he wouldnt be going through this. Serves himself right, i just feel sorry for his family who have to put up with it.

Getting drunk is not a major offense...driving while drinking and endangering countless other lives is! Furthermore, I think Mr. Gibson was just showing his true colors when he spouted those racist statements. Keep in mind that he never apologized for WHAT he said, only for saying it. To me, this means that he really believes what he says and is only sorry that he 'got caught.' I have no sympathy for a bigot with substantial amounts of money who could afford to get any treatment he needed to overcome his disease. Instead, he chose this path so I do not feel sorry for him.
People are usually less inhibited when drinking, and therefore, usually more honest. Sometimes this leads to people saying stupid things, but at least you get a glimpse of the kind of person they really are. I am glad this happened to him.
Anyway, congratulations on your sobriety, and I wish you continued success with it.

You listed off why it is such a major offense; MADD. The thing I find so odd is that they are supposed to be against Drunk DRIVING and yet they have their hands in every possible thing. I don't care who said what, if they weren't behind the wheel of a car, leave them the heck alone!! If they want to get drunk and spout things off they will regret later, more power to them!! As long as they don't hurt anyone in the process, they are fine. They are going to have to pay for it enough without someone else getting their hands on it and making it worse. Good question!!

Some people are just plain dogs. They like to kick a person when they are down, especially if it is someone who has generally done better in life than they have. If he has a problem and now can bring himself to deal with it then this is a good thing and will be a great tribute to the treatment of alcoholism.

You have a very good point. Although I think the reason people make such a big deal out of actors and actresses, sports figures, etc., doing things like this are because we simply see them as idols, heros and examples. So if they're doing stupid, foolish and immoral things then it's a disappointment to the rest of us.
Heros are put on a pedestal and frankly, we forget that they're human just like us. But they asked for it, picking the careers they have. Comes with the job.

He admits he has a problem, that's good enough for you? What if he had killed a loved one of yours while driving around drunk? All he would have to say to you is, "I'm sorry, I was drinking and saying and doing something stupid. But I guess the result is your loved one is now dead, mate, chin up, have a round on me. G'day". That's good enough for you. You have envolved so much more than the rest of us, you have turned into a robot and likely running a buggy version of Windows too.

I don't think alot of people are mad because he was arrested for drunk driving. I think it's more the things he said when he was drunk. I agree we all say some pretty stupid things when we're drunk and he isn't the first celeb who did or said something really dumb. Just let it go. I mean how many of them do it and they're not drunk..

Gibson's admittance of a "problem" is a positive first step.
Since the incident, I've seen shocking immaturity from the Jewish community...something that causes me to rethink their sincerity of their religion and it's facets.
Getting drunk is NOT a major offense. Getting drunk and hurting someone IS an offense. Getting drunk and killing someone, be it by car, by weapon or by bare hands---IS A MAJOR OFFENSE, deservedly punishable by law.

ya well thats society for you, most of society has nothing better to do then complain and worry about what celebrities do. i agree with you, hes a person too and atleast he admits he has a problem. but since he's a celebrity everyone makes a big deal that he drinks and makes an *** out of himself like millions of people do everyday when they're drunk.

Admitting that you have a drinking problem is only the first step. And who knows if he will even take the extra steps to cutting the habit. But I would also be upset. Just because he is a celebrity doesn't mean that he shouldn't get in trouble for his actions.
