When I was eight years old, my best friend was black. I asked my grandmother one day, why my friend's skin was so much darker than mine.
My grandmother said that when God put all the people on the Earth, He had to give them skin that could cope with the part of the world He placed them in - those where the sun was hottest got the darkest skin. Those where it wasn't so hot had lighter skin, and those where it was rarely hot at all had very light skin. She said that this was really the only difference between all the people on Earth.
That was good enough for me at eight years old, and I see no reason to abandon the idea now. I understand that it might not fit in with all the scientific stuff, or maybe even all the Biblical stuff; we might have all started out with the darkest skin where the sun was hottest, and as our people moved away from that area of the world, our skin tones changed - who knows?
The bottom line is that it shouldn't make any difference except when it comes to how bad some of us sunburn.

We didn't come from the Big Bang directly, where'd you get that idea? Big Bang is, theoritically, the creation of the universe. Our sun is actually quite young compared to the rest of it.
As for your theory on races, it's not a stupid question. I've heard a few years ago that there're some evidence that humans evolved in the African/Middle East region and we just kept immigrating to different parts of the world. After a few millenia of a place, we've evolved to adapt to the environment: like how black people can tolerate the sun better than white people, etc, etc. Hope that helps.

in different georgaphical areas of the world, the sun's UV rays are more concentrated than others. Dark colored skin could be a defense mechanism for UV rays, to prevent sunburns, skin cancer, etc.
This could explain why hot areals like africa have darker skins; while colder areas that dont get as much sun, like europe and asia, dont need dark skin. Perhaps whiter skin is more adapt for cold weather?

Your question's opening up a battle arena for men of faith and men of science.....there are loads of questions that will always be unsolved. Things would be a lot easier to comprehend if events were properly documented for men of little faith to touch, feel, see, smell, lick and hear before they finally believe. Sadly, many things aren't saved in time capsules for people to document history.
But if people were to really get down to prove the existence of Adams, Eves, Noah's Ark....many scientific people have been converted after their conclusive research. It dismays me to think that the human race needs to search, dig and analyse historical events just to strengthen their faith in a divine existence. Faith, to begin with, dwells in the unseen.
I leave it to everyone around to choose which path they wish to take...scientific or religious. Why stir up an extra controversy when there is enough conflict going on in this world?

Like Amanda said, we all started in Africa - early people traveled to other places on the planet, and differences eventually showed up as people adjusted to different environments. However, there is still a lot of debate on exactly how and when it all happened.

Races probably originated in times of isolation such as the ice age, when groups of humans trapped in the same area just kept reinforcing certain traits such as skin colour or even genetic diseases and then for some reason had an explosion in population.

What an interesting point that you should make. I bet the only one who really knows is the Creator, himself. GOD.
As far as our differential color tones, WE ARE LIKE THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW, when you've reached the end, you'll find your answer. One good assumption is that we all bleed red blood yet our DNA's are very different.

Scientist say that mankind origionated in Africa, so we probably all had dark skin at first. As man spread into Asia and Europe skin color gradually changed.
