I smoked 1 1/2 packs a day before I got pregnant. I tried to quit cold turkey and was unable to. I did cut down though. I went from 30 cigarettes a day to 4-5 cigarettes a day. My babies were both born healthy. My oldest weighed 6 lbs 9.5 oz and my youngest child weighed 7 lbs 2.5 oz. Both of my girls had a 9 on their apagar scores(10 is the highest it goes). Both of them are and were happy, and healthy little girls. My oldest is 2 1/2 now. Smoking MAY cause birth defects, smoking MAY cause low birth-weight. MAY doesn't mean ALWAYS. If you are smoking, try to cut down.It is very hard to quit smoking and anyone who has smoked for a long time knows this. Just do what you can. That's all I have to say.Smoking

Unfortunately people don't make very good decisions in life. That's why the government steps in and makes laws to protect little ones. In some areas it has been considered child abuse to smoke, drink and do drugs while being pregnant. If you have to ask the question that you asked, to get approval for you to smoke, then you don't deserve to be the mother of that child. Remember, the mom is supposed to "give up her life" to make the child safe. Think of someone else for once. Good luck

Unfortunately I did smoke when I was pregnant with both of my children. I smoked 3 cigarettes a day. I tried everything I could to quite but couldn't. Luckily my children were born healthy, on time and their weight was normal.

I have never smoked and if I did I would have stopped while pregnant. I know people say its hard, however, its not about you anymore you have a life inside of you and he/she is expecting you to make the best decisions for them...

I didnt because I dont anyway, but it didnt hurt since it's a known fact that babies actually stop respirating each time you inhale the smoke from a cigarette. You are basically choking your baby with every toke.

no way! i already have enough to try to explain to God and don't need to have to explain why i ruined the life or killed the baby He entrusted me...

no cigarrette is worth living with the guilt for the rest of your life of having your baby either come out deformed or dead...
