I think at the time those actions were taken they were the right ones. Who can tell who is going to stab you in the back in the future? In the political world think you have to pick the lesser of two evils and hope you make the right choice. Ever think maybe people like Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are the traitors, they were more than willing to take our help, then turned their backs on us. Where are they now? Oh, thats right, Saddam is in a prison cell and Bin Laden is to chicken sh*t to show his face! This country tries to do the right things, can't help how many evil, back stabbing cowards are in this world. In the end God will judge them all, I would much rather be on our side. Wouldn't you?

Well, for one, I was only recently born then, so I can't really speak for them. But its something called "historical perspective" and "context" which apparently, despite my youth, I have more of than you.
At the time, we were fighting the Soviet Union. Communists beleive that the war is never over until all countries are communist. Its called "Continuous Revolution" or something like that. They also believed that by converting one third worldcountry, they can set in motion the transformation of other nearby countries. Kinda sounds like something we called the "Domino Effect."
Anyways, we were fighting a proxy war against the Communists invading Afghanistan. So we help support the resistence. Unfortunatley we didn't have crystal balls that would tell us the future, as you seem to think we must have. We armed them because at the time, THEY WEREN"T OUR ENEMIES.
Why don't you try reading a little history sometime. Don't trust your school textbooks. Schools are notoriously liberal, particularly with those who try to alter history. Instead, find other books. Maybe you'll gain a bit of wisdom in the process.

You are quick to blame "conservatives". I assume you are a "liberal". Your question is rather biased and blames "neo-cons" for training terrorists. I am fairly certain that nobody went out to afganastan in the 80s representing the republican party in order to train terrorists. That was the CIA, which is not a political party. President Clinton had his part to play in the years between the bushes. The Democratic party, the one that the "liberals" like has its part to play too. Is is to mis-inform impressionable sheeple that belive everything they say. Their mission is to turn public opinion against the "conservative" party, win the next election, retreat from iraq, appease the terrorists, allow the UN to take more power from the US. Dont you notice that the "conservatives" and "liberals" are working in concert to turn the US into a slave state that is subordinate to the UN? (no, the US is not already subordinate to the UN, thats just lies in public school textbooks.)

We certainly have a long history of it. But remember, along with Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Bush the first suppling terrorists arms you have to include Kennedy, Johnson and Clinton. Basically, in the last sixty years, the only one NOT to give terrorists weapons is *gulp* Jimmy Carter and we all saw what happened to him. I guess that means to be a "successful" president you must kill innocent people. Carter killed no one with his policies and yet was shown the door, and I feel with good cause. He was "weak" and we just can't have that if we as Americans are going to rule the world.

Its true, Reagan was a bastard and we know that his pal Donald Rumsfeld was back there with him making trouble as well. The republicans ~ The original multi taskers! Supply deadly arms to crazy feuding nations filled with poor and helpless people, and here on the homefront find sneaky little ways of distributing crack cocaine in the ghettos, while the first ladies go on and on with their crappy little diversionary campaigns "just say no to drugs!" and whatnot. Yeah. Nonetheless, I dont see any reason for you to call them our "enemies" Ask yourself this: would they BE our enemies if we hadnt been such arogant meddling bastards? We would have a lot less enemies if it werent for the reckless actions and alliances of our leaders ~ and that goes for our buddy Bill Clinton to~ who had more than his wiener in the wrong places. The corruption runs deep. Its time for real solutions niether party can create. what now?

QUOTE from boredstupid "And you stupid liberals let us be bombed, held hostage, and murdered during you little reign. At least we are fighting back. "
NEWSFLASH !!!! 9-11 happened on bush's watch and Bin Laden is still roaming free laughing at us, again on bush's watch. So, how come you're not in Iraq making sure it doesn't happen again? A little too much of a coward???

Now I believe they're giving these same weapons over to Isreal to help in the bombing and destruction of Lebanon. Then they have the nerve to go to the middle east and pretend they are neutral and tell them they demand a ceasefire. Yeah, let the pot call the kettle black.

Yes conservatives did that, but so did democrats, it all goes back to the old adage "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" it is all about biuilding a global spheere of influence. And too do that is through giving weapons and other forms of aid.
