The minute you step into Charles De Gaul Airport, you are arrested, detained, your visa stripped and you are held in a windowless room under armed guard... Then you are loaded back on a plane and sent home by the authorities...all because of some new security policy.
The next day, you receive word from the that it was all a mistake...sorry. Oh...and NO refunds on the trip.

Would you decide that France pretty much sucked?? ...From then on??

Mmm kay, go get a cup of tea and come back to read this.

Scenario #1: There is a guy my husband works with. Waaaay back in the 60s he smoked weed. Yeah, lots of weed. Oh my good God NOBODY smoked weed in the 60s right? Anyway, he was one of the unfortunate ones who got caught with a big ol' bagful on his way to a weekend party at a cottage. Fast forward to 2002. He's been going to the good ol' US of A since like 1982 for some damn stupid redneck fishing derby. But now, since Sept 11th, there's all these bloody regulations and what not. They pull him away from the group, lock him in a room for 6 hours with no access to a bathroom. He gets out finally and his friends were told not to wait because this guy had an "outstanding warrant" and would be transfered to lock-up. That was a damn lie. Anyway, they tell him he's never allowed in the States again because of his "criminal past." What a f*cking joke.

Scenario #2. A friend of ours. He is Muslim. A bunch of us try to go over to the States for the afternoon. The Muslim dude, who has never had so much as a parking ticket, gets hauled into a room. Two days later they let him go. He was mildly dehydrated and had dropped four pounds. They interrogated him, sometimes harshly, for a total of eighteen hours. Then threw him out of the place and told him he was not allowed into the US because of security policy. All us white folks were told right off the bat we could go through. We said we're not going without our friend and they laughed and said we are wasting our time with "scum like that." Yeah, he was born in Canada.

Scenario #3: This happened about 15 years ago. I was on a tour bus and we were going into the States. There were a bunch of old people (I was travelling with one of them) and one Chinese couple. At Customs, the Chinese couple, in theirs 70s, were pulled off the bus and two burly agents opened their suitcases and flung everything all over the parking lot then screamed at them to "hurry up and clean up this ****!" The couple was then escorted into the building and emerged a few hours later looking rather dishevelled. They'd undergone a full body cavity search. Why? Because they were Chinese. I knew them, my travelling companion worked with them for 35 years. They had NO criminal records.

God bless America.

No, no I wouldn't. There are plenty of other reasons to dislike the French if you really want some, but no, this isn't one.

While the situation sounds like it sucked like no other, it appears to have been an error on their part. With that admittance from them, I would ensure that I was compensated by them or by the airline for the error and that even if it was not in cash, it was in another trip that was free of charge.

It's a new and regretfully sadder world that we currently live in my friend, some will cry out against it, others will slip away into the shadows and await the outcome, and some, well some of us rail against the darkness, pushing back with the inner light of trust and love.

Ok, yeah, way to deep for this audience. Sorry. :)

I hope that you work this out with the trip.

Love as always,

Sebastian

No, I would understand it was a simple mistake. I would probably try to get my money back by suing though. And then I would go back after getting my money/stuff back so I can finish my vacation.

I would have one heck of a story for my friends though!!
