The religion that is practiced in "The Craft" refers to a character named (phonetic spelling) Min-noel or Min-no. I'm curious as to what practice this is or if this is even a valid belief system(as in do people actually practice it?)

Thanks, I was more curious as to its validity in the world and the character they refer to. Sorry, I don't the exact spelling. I remember them saying "minno" being like the football field if God and Satan were the players, does that analogy fit anything in wiccan culure?

Mannon is a fictitious "deity" that was created specifically for "The Craft." He doesn't appear anywhere in history and I doubt if there are any credible Wiccan practices built around him.

I don't think the football field analogy quite fits in Wicca as it implies a competition between absolute good and evil.

Some of the rituals used in the movie, including the initiation ritual, were adapted from those used by the coven of the movie's Wiccan advisor.

The 'religion' used in the craft is not in and of itself a real one. It's based on Wiccanism, as far as I can tell, but they've obviously adjusted elements (excuse the pun) of the religion so that it would be entertaining, and so that the plot line would work. But over all, I think they used Wicca, or at least the public's idea of Wicca as a base.

I always thought it was Wiccan, but the spirit they invoked was called Mannon. As to whether it's real or not, probably not. The writers just made it up for the movie. Good movie though, one of my favorites.

You know, the next time you see it, put on the caption feature on your TV, and see if the name comes up.

the craft you are speaking of in the movie is about witchcraft, but I think min-no is just a fictional name because there is no God or goddess by that name. This movie gives us witches a bad name, witchcraft or wicca is not bad and is not used for bad.

I think it was Mannon. Which, to the best of my knowledge is made-up. As far as the whole summoning the spirit thing, totally made up.
