Whether it's Yahoo! answers or offline in the real world, homphobic and ignorant straight people can't seem to get the fact that us gays will be around forever, and no amount of gay-bashing, marriage prevention, or insults is going to make us straight. They constantly continue to try to put us down and make us feel bad about ourselves, but they wil not win. They can say whatver they want to say, and do whatever they want to do, but gay men will continue to date men, lesbians will continue to date women, and bi people will continue to date both. It's our lives. Who really cares what they think? Don't they have better things to do in life? They don't see us constantly going around saying being straight is a choice, being straight is so disgusting, it's not God's plan( like what happens between us and God is their business anyway). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but they really need to stop wasting their breath and their precious time because gays will be here FOREVER AND EVER!

I NOTICED THAT A LOT OF SO CALLED STRAIGHTS AND ANTI-GAYS FOLKS HAVE A LOT TO SAY. BUT THE REAL QUESTION IS WHY DO YOU KEEP RETURNING TO THE GAY AND LESBIAN SECTION? DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING HIDDEN IN YOUR CLOSET?

This is a great rant...no offence...I agree. I am heterosexual and
I don't care either way, it's entirely upon the person whether they can help it or not. I believe most homosexuals were born that way and they can't help how they feel.
To each his or her own. I will not judge, I refuse to judge.
People that judge will be judged someday,
Karma I say!!
Have a great day!!!

Your right, gays/lesbian/bi will always be around. I have gay friends and because of that and the way i was brought up, i have no reason to have fear.
And i think that is what alot of ppl have, fear. They are scared of the unknown. The cant see that what homosexual people do is exactly like straight ppl, I mean come on. Put 10 ppl in a room and a straight person wont be able to tell the difference between those who are straight and those who arent.
A person could mingle at a gay party and have no idea about it but as soon as they do they are either going to be fine with the idea or get scared and want to leave. It is a bit silly.
Either way I think homosexuals will always come against those who oppose them and there will be ppl out there who will always be afraid.
Its a personal choice, it is for all of us. And really, if you dont know a gay person, you dont know how wonderful they are.
There is nothing to fear or be homophobic/ignorant about. We are all the same.

Let me see if I can help answer your question. I think because people who were brought up in any kind of religious household they are taught at an early age it's wrong. They are not taught any kind of tolerance to anything, period. They don't understand, they don't get it. I was lucky enough many years ago to go to the local gay bar one night with a bunch of friends. One of our male friends thought he might be so off we went!!! Being of the hairdressing profession and local figureskater we get in the bar and see like 4 people I know, not knowing they were gay before then, and really hadn't been involved in the gay community at the time. I had an absolute blast, was like being in any other bar, well almost. Hadn't been around gays and lesbians it was kind of a turn on watching everyone. We made so many friends and what wonderful people they were. No one ever disrespected us for being "straight" but loved us for who we were. I have always been a person who believes equality for everyone and I hope some day you too can marry, and have the same rights that my wonderful husband of 30 yrs. I have!!!!!! Not all of us straight folks are bad!!!!!!!!

Because they are proud of their bigotry and arrogance. Plain and simple. And some of them hide behind the church doors and promote those attitudes.
Ever notice how it is straight men who are ruining the world with their wars (usually in the name of God)? I have never seen anything but peace and harmony at any gay pride event. Yet, on the other hand, whenever a sports team wins a victory, the straight men take to the street, get drunk and disorderly, make fools of themselves, get destructive and get into trouble with the police. I've seen that several times.
So, for all the homophobes who think they are better than gays, they would do well to mind their own business and grow up. What goes around, comes around -- like it or not.

My best male friend is gay and I love him to pieces....:)
I've had more honesty and integrity from the gay people in my life than the straight.... Hmmm....
97% of the straights don't understand that being gay isn't a choice made after arriving here on the planet---it happens in the womb---it's the way the brain is wired---hope none of these truly scary straights have gay children---or better still, maybe it would be good for them, eh?
Most who judge being gay are bound by fear and a lack of knowledge. Bound in religion of some sort....Oy Vey!
All I know is, Love is love and whoever it touches is blessed. I would be willing to bet there are more successful, long term gay relationships out there than straight.....
It's all good though, it only reveals how far humanity has to go on the evolutionary scale. Humans have much to learn about love and integrity of a higher nature.
Take care
Mama

Right on.
I think there are so many hostile straights and homophobes because the see us gaining in respect and rights. They know that we've done this by letting open minded straight people get to know us better. We've done this mostly by talking and writing online. So they think if they come here they can discourage us, and keep us from showing more of the mainstream poplulation how much we are JUST LIKE THEM in 95% of our lives, and only the 5% of our life which is sexual has differences. And even that has similarities!

And these people (straight homophobes) will always be with us..the people who have no real lives or pathetic lives of their own..who are too afraid or too simple to look at themselves for what they really are....I consider them sad, because they will never develop..never grow into anything more than they now are. And I think some of them in the middle of the night..know that.

I doubt they will get it, but you did a wonderful job at trying to let them know that we are here and always will be. Thanks! Also, remember that many gays, lesbians, and bi's have lost their lives because of their sexual orientation. I truly doubt anyone would choose to be gay; just like I doubt that anyone chose to be a slave. I am sure that many African-Americans that were brought over here as slaves, would have paid good money to be any one else. My point is, I would love to walk down the street and hold hands with my sweetheart and know without a doubt that we would be safe......Thanks again.

Doesn't bother me. Are you a good person? Would you ever hurt anyone else on purpose? I will judge you based on questions like these, and I never have to know how you love. People fear that which they don't understand or can't change. Love is love, to me. Two souls find each other in time and space and somehow their physical bodies aren't so important anymore.
