Hmm, the Daughter of the King or the Kings neice, how complicated...

Mary claimed she had more right because Elizibeth was a child of Henry's second marraige, after he divorced Catherine of Aragon; but English law recognised the divorce, even if catholisism didn't (but England wasn't Papist any longer so that didn't mean squat), so yes, Elizibeth had more right.

Elizabeth as the daughter of Henry VIII. Mary was the niece of Henry and the daughter of Henry's sister. Elizabeth had the right to the throne, except that Catholics claimed that she was illegimate. Mary of Scotland was used by the Catholics to rally against the Queen. When Elizabeth died, Mary's son James became King.

Elizabeth as she was Henry the Eight's daughter. Mary of Scotland was actually his grand niece as she was the daughter of his nephew James V. Also Mary of Scotland was not know as Bloody Mary. That was Elizabeth's older sister Mary Tudor. Mary of Scotland was actually very tolerant of Protestants and later in life actually converted to Protestantism.

Elizabeth, being the DAUGHTER of King Henry the 8th had the right of succession by BIRTH.
Mary, being the NIECE of King Henry the 8th, would have been the NEXT in line AFTER Elizabeth.
