Can you share a penny of your thoughts? These are the comments from my friends and acquaintances. Whenever I mentioned Australia (in which I am relocating soon), it's either its a RACIST country and there are a lot of GAYS.

You have been talking to the wrong people, racism and homosexuality is everywhere.
I wouldn't say you will find more of either here than you would in other countries.
Australians take people at face value, irregardless of their nationality, so don't be worried. If you want to live in a fairly safe country and make a lot of friends you will have a great time.

I was not aware that we were known for those things....
If in fact we are known for a lot of gays, I would probably say it is no more than in other countries, maybe there are just more 'out of the closet' here.... as we live in a fairly broadminded and accepting society, in comparison to some other countries.
As for the racism.... i would say we are a country that embraces other cultures.... as long as it doesnt bring death and destruction to our doorstep.... we generally have little time for people who flee to our country to escape that kind of thing in their home country, then start it up over here. But on the whole... I would say we are actually a very tolerant, embracing society!
