If Mel Gibson ranted approximately Greenpeace, of which some human beings died for theri ideals, there does not have been the fuss. For some reason, some communities are allowed to be attacked (liberals and conservatives working example) and a few communities are not.

Who's Mel Gibson?

Perhaps he spoke his mind because of his alcohol imparement, perhaps not. I think he is in the same predictament as millions of people...but he is a star in a spotlight and needs to let this ride it's course. He is a talented actor and filmmaker, no more...he lives and dies like the rest of us and is just as human.

I think this whole thing is representative of the typical media response to pick a wound until it is open and bleeding, then claim that the patient is dying...just to sell papers/media/commercials. There is where the problem lies, not with a recovering alcoholic that slipped.

I would trust Mel Gibson 100 times before I would trust any media lowlife. I have seen much too much media abuses to trust ANY reporting that they do.

It's a non story to me. Who the heck is Mel Gibson? He's a stupid actor and not a head of the country or anything. The jewish community will never forgive him and I think he should just shut up and move on. He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars so I dont' feel too bad for Mel.

It shows again that we should not look at actors or famous people as role models. They only try to show what they want you to see.

I think the media (as usual) has gone way overboard on focusing on the negative. If Mel Gibson was an average Schmo we wouldn't have heard about it at all. Did he do wrong by driving drunk? Of course. But he's not a rapist of murderer. They need to get off their high horses and focus on reality. He has a severe alcohol problem and needs help. Where is their compassion? And to hear people, celebrity and not, say they'll " boycott" his movies...god lord. Drama, drama and more drama. These people never did anything wrong in their life? They need to get off the subject and stop their holier than thou attitudes.

They are people just like anyone else who like too live and let live. I think Mel is so popular that this isn't going too hurt him. He has made some super movies and hopefully there will be many more. The poor guy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught....it happens....he's human like the rest of us and made a mistake; he's paid enough with the bad publicity and is mature enough to admit it.

I really like Gibson as he is a very talented actor and director, and he has owned up to the DUI charges, but unfortunately we all know that he will be let off due to the fact of who he is. This is a real problem in this country. If they are caught for Drinking then they should pay the price just as most of us regular people.

Hes a normal human being, and has the right to say whatever he wants. If they are digging up his background, they might as well dig up the backgrounds of all the other people that express their opinions.

I think people should leave Mel Gibson alone and pick on Dolly Parton,Al Sharpton,Robert Byrd,Marlon Brando and Hillary Clinton instead. These weasels make Anti-Semitic remarks and they get a pass. Leave Mel alone ok?

We all have things deep in our brains implanted by our parents, grandparents, etc. These can be good or bad; in Mel's case many were bad. As we grow older and think for ourselves we overlay these wrong ideas with our own, hopefully better ones. The action of alcohol is to reduce inhibition, thus allowing some of these wrong ideas to surface. Mel's problems were 1) bad parenting and 2) alcohol. In a sober state, his mind wouldn't have allowed these ideas to surface, but under the influence of alcohol, he could not control it. He needs to stay sober.
