A lot better than people were giving them at the beginning of the season. It's still going to be difficult. The Yankees will be a major factor.

On paper you would have to say that the Tigers are the favorites to go all the way. Of course, once the playoffs start the experience of other teams may be a factor. The Seattle Mariners had some dominant teams in the late 90s that had the best record in baseball, but were eliminated before ever reaching the World Series. As has been pointed out, baseball is not played on paper.

I think the odds are very good.
Did anyone see friday nights game?
down 5-0 after 6, they came back and won 7-6
Saturday night, down 3-0 after 7 they came back to win 4-3
Friday night it was Craig Monroe's 2 run blast in the 8th that gave us the lead.
Saturday Night it was Pudge's 2 run blast in the 9th that gave us the win.
That is 14 come from behind (after 7) wins The Tigers have....thats the best in the AL.
We have the pitching (Rodgers settled down after the 1st inning, and the team a chance to come back and win...and we did).
Have you see The Tigers play everyday?
You have to see them everyday to appreciate what they have done.
This season is nothing short of magical.
Everyday it is a different player to come through in the clutch to win ballgames.
Did you see the way Zumaya comes in from the bullpen?
This team has a "swagger" to it. Everyone is playing like professions.
If Brandon Inge has a bad day at the plate, Marcus Thames will step up.
If Placido Polanco has a bad day at the plate, Ivan Rodriguez will come through.
If Pudge is having a bad day, Mags will come through.
The Tigers have a well stacked 1-9 line-up.
Their #9 hittter has 20 HR's.
This is a team that believes in themselves, and are having so much fun doing it.
Next time you see The Tigers on TV, watch their dugout....These players are loose and having the times of thier lives.
There is NO unrest in the clubhouse....each player respects the other. This is a team playing as a team, and everyone is contributing....EVERYONE!
There is no one single person carrying this team....EVERYONE ON THIS TEAM IS PULLING THIS TEAM.
So yeah, the odds are very good.

the detroit tigers have the best record in all of baseball if they can have a 74-31 (as of 8-6-06) record they should win the world series
bonderman, verlander robertson, rogers, zumaya, jones those are the names of future world series champions
their offense is great, they have a great advantage with Pudge behind the plate, and they are a true world series championship team

Bonderman - Verlander - Robertson - Rogers. Zumaya, Jones - I like this team a lot. The Post season is about pitching, and Detroit has pitching. Their Offense is great to, and with a field general like Pudge behind the plate, they have the makings of a true contender.

If the pitching keeps doing what its been doing they have a chance, their young though, and that could hurt in the playoffs, Leland is a good manager.

Everybody has been waiting for them to collapse but it hasn't happened yet. At this point they probably have as good a shot as anybody.
