I don't think it's sounds like a girls name. I actually never heard of a girl named Moe... Moe reminds me of Moe, you know, from the Simpsons... Male.
The only girl I know as "Mo" is Brandy's character Moesha in that show...

Moe is short for the female name Maureen. But I have heard a lot of guys called Moe also. I had a friend and his name was Maurice. We called him Moe.
