The way I see it, if people of the Muslim persuasion and people of the the Arab groups see this slogan they will begin to have more tolerant attitudes, and in time even extreme people among them will lighten up. Do I have a "yes" on this?

We can still have the slogan "God Bless America"
We can have both. If we have both slogans it can help Muslims feel more at home in America, and help Muslims in foreign countries see that we're inclusive and fair.

Nope. You're so off base. First of all, you assume all Muslims hate America, and that is certainly not the case. Secondly, you think that by posting that slogan, originating from a non-muslim is going to somehow suck a worldwide population into being more accepting of us.

You clearly have a very simplistic view of the situation. I am not pro-islamic by any means, but quite frankly the US is so imperialistic that much of the world hates us and our "holier than thou" attitude. While I do not believe it justifies violence, I completely understand the distrust and dislike of the US.

What you are also missing is that the extremist (read extremist..this does not equate to all islamic leaders) faction is trying to take over the world and motivate their membership to a common enemy and cause. That is the nature of extremism (think if Northern Ireland if you want a modern example that does not involve Islam).

You take a largely uneducated population, (and most people can be persuaded to follow..think of Hitler and Germany), create and exploit a prejudice, build it up until it is a major threat (in their minds) to their life or lifestyle and they are going to rise up to destroy that threat.

You are dealing with propanga and mind control and "slogans" are useless against that sort of threat.

Your signs would be worthless.

I like your idea alot . After all i believe the muslims jews and christians all worship the same God. Our differences in particulars are large but if it brings more peace and an easing of tention between our societies then why not? Why cant an American and a muslim pray together to Allah? Its the same God. I think ur idea is an outstanding one and one that should be put into practice on as many fronts as we can think of ... it goes against nothing and only can lead to some degree of peace and tolerance . the world could use more of that for sure....

America was founded by Christians, not theists, the ten commandments and the image of Moses on the Supreme Court show that quite clearly. Allah is not god nor do we need to cateur to a false religion and compromise our heritage for a bunch of extremists.

The only problem with that is that this nation was founded by Christians on Christian ideals... (George Washington is rolling over in his grave!)

What's about suggesting that some Middle East nation publicly/formally acknowledging God or Jesus? Do you really think Syria or Saudi Arabia would do that?

Either case- you'd be asking the nation (US or otherwise) to reject or in some way turn their back on their heritage.

I don't have a problem with Americans who are Muslim having that on a bumper-sticker, though...

I doubt it would help much. Religious extremism is not highly correlated with logic of any kind.

I feel that the reality is that what is driving the hatred and extremism in this case is "cultural assimilation". In other words, the extremists don't like how often their own social members enjoy adopting "western influences" such as clothing, music, even values.

Since this process will not stop in any case, and since the extremists will be upset about this in any case, I don't see any alternative to just accepting that they will hate the west until they die of old age: nothing is going to change these people's hatred or views; nothing will stop them from attempting to infect their children with this hatred either.

Again, this is ultimately because religious views are not rooted in rationality, so no discussion or argument is allowed to change them: almost by definition.

That is my perspective as depressing as it is.

Allah is simply a name for God in Islam. We don't care if you say Allah, 'cause God is the same thing. Say, like jehovah or whatever.

Great idea. While we're at it, why don't we mint coins with "In Allah We Trust" on them an have 7-11 pass them out as change? I don't want anything to do with those fat stinkin mullahs.

WHO TOLD YOU THE IDEA WAS TO MAKE THEM FEEL AT HOME?

I think it's perfectly fine, but the Muslims may see it as mocking. They're so unreasonable.
