BABE. We just had a movie night for our neighbors (I have a 119" projection setup in a movie room) and their 4 daughters ages 4 -12 loved it.
It's easy to follow for the youngest and has 2 great morals for the older kids (not to pre judge anyone - and you can accomplish anything you set out to do). And kids love the talking animals!

First it depends on the age of the child.
Bt I would strongly recommend Disney movies (ex. Aladdin, Little Mermade) the classics. Also all movies from Pixar.

How old is the child?
Try Cars, or Pirates for the teens.
4 year old ... anything with Dora the Explorer, Elmo, Scooby Doo.

There is no one best movie and it definitely varies depending on the age of the child and their interests. Read some reviews and make your own choice.

As a first movie, I'd say it has to be Mary Poppins. It has everything a family film should have, music, magic, animation and an uplifting theme.

basically any disney and pixar movie
they are awesome
and of course you really cant go wrong with the disney classics (little mermaid, lady and the tramp, cinderella, snow white, etc.)
why? they are very appropriate for any young children and even older (im 21 and still love them)

try some of the movies in the Veggie Tales series.
for one, they're vegetables... kids need to learn to love veggies.
two, they're good stories that teach morals and have a lesson.
three, adults love them too.
