Well, since you are asking this question, the answer is Harley. Victory is a well-engineered, but very calculated, design. It was crafted to do everything Harleys do, but better. And it does.
That said, it is NOT a replacement. See above. Harley riders are slavishly brand-loyal. If you plan to do the cruiser/biker scene, go Harley or you will be "different."
Ever heard about the green monkey experiment? Scientists went into a monkey tribe and picked a nice normal, everyday monkey and pulled him out of the tribe. He was a middle-class monkey, picking as many fleas as he got picked. Then the scientists painted him green and put him back in the tribe. The other monkeys set upon him because he was different. They threw things at him and screamed at him and refused to pick his fleas.
So if you want to hang around with bikers (instead of riding a motorcycle), get a Harley, or the others will shriek and throw their feces at you.

I would have to say Harley over a victory. That so called antiquated design is what I like about them. I'm sure there is a reason "everyone and their brother" rides a Harley. It might be that it's a quality bike. If a company has been around for 100+ years and still going strong, they have to be doing something right.

Harley. Victory is nothing more than a metric cruiser made in America. Now, if you're wondering between a Victory and a Yamaha or something like that, then go for the Victory. Comparisons between HD and Victory are odious; it's apples and oranges.

Victory. Too many posers on Harleys these days. Mainly though I think Victory builds a much classier bike.

You can't go wrong with a HD,,,I'm sure you already know that,,,,BUT,,,,I have ridden 2 different Victory models and I'm very impressed. With all of the other American made bikes on the market,,ie,,Big Dog,,,Iron Horse,,,and the countless others (most of which are just KIT bikes that companies build and put their name on ),,,Victory is DEFINATELY the new TRUE compitition for Harley and Indian,,,,,((( personally,,,,,go Harley !!!))),,,,for now,,,its easier to get parts !!!

Victory if you are going to ride. It's a well engineered bike, excellent motor and gearbox. I'm not into cruisers, but I've rode both and the Victory was the best.
