Lets get over it. I would think the bigger problem here is that fact that he was driving drunk. He is obviously a mean drunk. I am sure we have all said mean nasty things about other races, religions, sexual orientation, etc. Hell when I drive let the vulgarities flow. Maybe there is a conspiracy by the American Govt. to get support for the Israel/Hezbollah War. Lets not forget "Lethal Weapon"," Mad Max." Mel was a cutie pie when he was younger..

The media is really wasting time with the Gibson thing. News about the middle east is bad enough without putting more junk on about an actor who got a load on. Bid deal. Like just about everyone has tied one on and done things they regretted later. The press does not have to drag things out. It reminds me of Leno spending a whole week talking about an 81 year old having sex with a 38 year old. The writers must be on vacation or something. Late night our I should say between 11:35 and 12:35 has become a wasteland in entertainment. Both Leno and Letterman suck. Time to go back to the old movies or get O'Brien on sooner.

Consider how many DUIs occur in the US daily and how many alcoholics are mean spirited......of course, not one of these will make national news. The emphasis is on the fact that Gibson was drunk, disorderly and made racist remarks; not the fact that he needs treatment for his disease. It's sad when the media promotes the dark side of a person for gain. Then again, the media has shown the world how vicious they can be in tracking the celebrities of the world.

Right you are. There are more important things to be concerned about.

I am really curious why the arresting sheriffs thought it would so important to let the world know what idiotic statements a drunk made. Is that standard procedure or did Mel just get preferential treatment??

There are so many more important things that national news stations could be covering than a D.U.I. Thousands of D.U.I.s are issued everyday and a lot of people act mean when they are drunk. Stop making a huge deal of it and get him into therapy.

I think the media's more upset about it than the average person. My theory is they're crucifying him (no pun intended) for making 'The Passion of the Christ' (which I have not seen, nor desire to, not being religious myself...).

I'm so not interested in it. When I see it on Yahoo I don't even bother looking.
