Having loved and lost her.......I wish I had never loved at all.
I think the statement was made by someone who has never loved and had the pain of losing love.

Is it better to experience being human than not at all ?

It may be true, love is an amazing feeling. When you feel it, it's like the world is at your feet. However, it is brief and the pain that follows lasts forever. The same amount of joy can also be derived from scoring the winning goal in the world cup! Now that feeling is also brief but there's never any regret. So logically, which one is better? Which one is harder to attain? Definitely the latter. There are many things in life that are equally as rewarding and pleasing as love, and without the negative side effects. There is so much more to life than love, so the answer is no, it's better not to have loved, but to have enjoyed your life regardless.

It would be irrational to love somebody simply because it would only be temporary and have negative repercussions. Despite this, I find myself at odds because I want to experience love. I hate the fact that I want it so much. Since it's irrational I won't allow myself that amenity but in doing so I'm going against instinct. So I guess the question is, do you oppose reasoning and take the quick gain for a hard fall, or do you play it safe and still feel content for the most part?

this is my favourite quote. I mean you have loved someone and lost, it's just the process of growing up from the moment you date someone till you marry someone. Having the pain makes you stronger and have more experience in relationships so you know what you can do better in the next one, and know what to expect next. So therefore, it's better to have loved and lost, which you experience the happiness when you're in love, and experience the pain when you lost. People have have never have loved at all, they don't get to enjoy the feelings of having been loved and lost. This is what this quote means to me. If I had never loved and lost anyone, I wouldn't know what to expect or to do in my marriage if the worst comes. just remember the pain is just there to make you a stronger person, and its there to prepare you to know how to deal with the pain if the next relationship doesn't succeed.

and I may want to add that without the pain there would be no history, it's the history that makes people better. you always have to look back on history in order to improve your life. this is why we study history in school, to make the society better, why not leave the pain as history and then move on to your life, then come back to review the history to improve your life.

You are just saying that because the pain is still there. Its like saying, you wished you would not have met her at all and spend all those wonderful times with her Instead of recalling the lost, why dont you recall the little details..Like the times she made you smile, her contaigous laugh, how she looks at you....and the feeling of being loved by someone.....dont lose hope..GOD has plans for you...there is someone out there waiting for you to touch her life...So get off your butt and start looking for her.

Yes, I agree with Tessa. You offer your love in an unselfish way, but if it is not returned then you have to come to terms with it and look at the good side, that you had the chance to experience such a wonderful thing. I don't deny that it is a hard thing to accept, especially if you believe she was your soulmate, but this just another of those things in life that we cannot control.

hmmm.. very good question. tough.....

well,... id say yes. happy memories is something you can cherish. you knew happiness while she was around. would it have been better if she never knew you and her you? would it have been better if during her time she didnt ever experience the happiness she knew with you? your pain is a personal pain, a self-centered one (and i mean that in the right way, not a insult). life can be bittersweet. much happiness and much sadness. but you grow wiser, sadder, more humble, deeper, better, throughout it. I think you have to ask yourself, would it have better to never have rolled the dice and experienced life in a full way.. and the answer to that is no.

Dlayne21 makes a good point about the garth brooks song. i agree.

It's like the song "the dance" by Garth Brooks.....Could have missed the pain but I'd have missed the Dance!" Life is a dance...be thankful for the people that you are around and love and let them KNOW how you feel....you NEVER know when they will not be around to tell them anymore....There is a reason for everything....there is someone out there waiting for you...

Don't forget to SMILE.....

YES, absolutely, you have to give love a chance, love - it hurts, you have to be willing to open yourself and your heart up, and risk getting hurt, youve got to specualte to accumulate. There is the other alternative of not loving anyone, being alone all the days of your life, and ending up, bitter. Take a chance - and keep on taking them until you find the right one. Besides relationships help us to grow as people and mature, time to throw the rattle away, and exchange it for a wedding ring - one day.

Yes. It sucks because you knew what love was and how much you are missing, but would you have ever wanted to give up that experience? Think about someone who died? Would you have prefered never knowing them because the pain of their death hurt? I wouldn't.

Losing love SUCKS !!!!!!!!!! I'd prefer to have had to go through the pain of it, than to have never felt it, at all , though. Love defines your life. Money, cars, assets, all mean nothing, if you don't have someone to have them with.
