I mean the bases were loaded in the bottom of the night and he hit the ball into a game ending double play.

Even Youkilis got on base before him.

Javy Lopez was sitting on the bench for the lowly Orioles, so that should give you an indication of how much his game has deteriorated with age. His bat speed has slowed quite a bit, but, then again, so has Varitek's. Javy was hitting a bit better than Jason (.261 to .243), but Javy is not Varitek when it comes to being a leader on the Sox. The Sox, I'm afraid, will be on the outside looking in come October. Manny will be able to be Manny in Puerto Rico much earlier this year.

3 words, He's too old. But the Sox had to do something. The thought of Mirabelli / Huckebee catching for the next 6 weeks is downright scary.

Javy Lopez has always been good. Sometimes you need to be in a different team to get a better season.

Well, he fits the "winner" hat with his years in Atlanta and he can, even under an awful slump, hit more than Mirabelli.

He's a better hitter than catcher. THAT is where he will hurt, behind the plate. CONGRATS Self-absorbed Sox fans DESERVE it.

I don't know how he plays anymore. I stopped keeping track of baseball when I had my babies. I bet he's still a cutie, though.

He will do alright. The playoff experience that he has will help them the most.
