Yeah we weren't too rich in Korea but wayyy poor in the U.S. Firstly, immigrants don't know people here, especially Koreans. Perhaps a lot of other minorities know family members already located in the U.S., but for the majority of Koreans I know they are alone when they come.
Of course, there are lots of ignorant people in the world, wherever you go so Americans making fun of accents, etc isn't anything new.
But once you have your niche, it isn't so bad and it's fun to be in different cultures, speak different languages, have different opportunities, etc.
Hope that helps~!

everyone new to a country or a school or a workplace has a hard time at first. not just asian immigrants. if you're different in a group of people, you'll be made fun of. but time is now slowly changing, and people are starting to learn more about foreign culture and customs and religions, they're experiencing more knowledge and know how to react rather than to mock and be rude. and to the other previous yahoo user that said asians are rich- not all asians are rich thank you very much. just like there are poor people in each country. if people are making fun of you, just ignore them or walk away or go find new friends, if this is a serious matter, go consult someone like your parents, teacher or boss etc.or a counsellor...

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time. Usually people make fun of you because they are not educated enough to understand a foreign culture
