I just got Bach's Rescue Remedy today for the first time and wonder if anyone has given this to their pets too. If so; how did you get them to take it and did it seem to work?

I didn't know if the Bach Flower's are just a people thing or if they work on animals also. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you can definitely give it to your dog; flower essences like the Bach remedies tend to work very nicely on pets, possibly because animals are more attuned to subtle energies than humans tend to be.

I don't agree that the flower essences can't be diluted -- the principle they operate on is such that already in the solution you buy, there's almost nothing of the original plants actually *there*; the essences work based on vibrational properties of plants which sort of "imprint" themselves on the alcohol/water, so I don't see dilution being a big problem. However, what I'm not as sure about is whether the essence would "stick around," so to speak, exposed to the air all day in the water bowl, rather than evaporating along with the alcohol mixture once it's out of its closed container. I'm not sure how this part of it works. For this reason, I'd suggest giving the RR orally instead, just to be sure; this is what we do with our dogs, and it's not particularly difficult to get them to take it that way.

I have to ask, are you sure that it's separation anxiety? If her issue is JUST urination and she doesn't display any other signs of separation anxiety — non-stop barking, destruction, self-harm, etc. — then it could be an issue of house-training or even a UTI or other bladder problem. It's also somewhat telling that she urinates in her crate; most dogs try very hard not to, and if she does it could be because of a lack of control. Your best bet would be to speak with a vet (in the event that it's a medical issue), a trainer or behaviorist. I don't think that adopting another dog at this stage would be terribly helpful.

I use Bach's for my dogs. I use the cream and rub a little bit on the inside of their ears so that they aren't scared during a storm, or to relax them when they go to the groomers or vets . Adding the liquid to water may not be effective as it will not be concentrated enough.

You can do it, but I have no idea why and if your dog has the sense to walk away from the water bowl and get a drink of pure water in the toilet or something.

Sure, you can add it to his water bowl. It's totally harmless, unless you got one of the bizarre variants that's 70% alcohol.

'Real' Rescue Remedy is a homeopathic product - in other words, very expensive magic water. Congratulations, you wasted your money on quackery.

Yes you can I use to give my dog beer and whiskey and we both felt ok with it. He would walk around in circles and fall over and I would just pass out.
