First, go to halfpricebooks.com and see if there are any stores near you. They will pay or give you good credit on their selection. I think they take almost anything. They have an enormous array of books, CD's, DVD, and other merchandise for sale in their stores.
The second best way is to put them up on eBay. While it will take some effort on your part to get that set up, there is a huge difference between the amount of money you can get for a book on ebay and the amount you can get from a bookseller.
Donate the leftovers--the ones the dealer doesn't want--to a library.
If there's no Half Price Books in your area and you don't want to bother with eBay, take them to a used book dealer. The dealer will go through them and give you a price. You'll be shocked by how low that price is. But that's how they stay in business. They will usually give you credit for the purchase of a book, if you ask.
I absolutely would not bother selling them in a garage sale. The amount of money people will pay, and the rate at which you can sell them, will not justify the effort.

In good condition. Depends on what you have, I think a yard sale is the best type for what you have to sell. Book stores look for rare books so if you have best sellers there really isn't a market. Most book buyers know where to buy used books for a $1.00. I know I do it every weekend and I spend $50.00 to $300.00.

If you are more interested in getting rid of them than in making some money, you might want to consider donating them instead.
Possible donation places are the library, women's shelters, gay and lesbian youth centers, schools, adult daycare centers, and nursing homes.
A few years ago, I donated my french literature books to a local high school french club. I thought the french teacher was going to orgasm, she was so happy. Helped that I had classics by Moliere, Racine, and Dumas. Her happiness far outweighed the $5-10 I might have received by selling the books.
