I have a friend who is 14 and just got a job at a pizza place, and the owner, or the boss, leaves my friend at night (10:00pm) to clean the whole place, and lock up the building. The process of clean up takes about 1.5 hours, so he locks up at around 11:30pm. Is that legal for the owner to do that in NJ?

Obviously this is a legal business. Therefor the owner has to follow the laws. Forget about what time this person is closing up the shop. Age 14 is totally illegal and if he is even paying that person under the table thats a double whammy. This owner should be turned into the labor board or even the authorities for that matter.

not curfew and school even fall into all that. Unless he's a relative or doing that person a favor . but he's still wrong leaving like that asking for problems

if your friend doesnt like the requirements of the job they should quit and not worry about the labor laws.
