You'll do fine. Just make sure you have a friendly lab partner. Time will fly as long as you just have fun and talk with people. I enjoyed my 4 hour lab work! Wait til organic chemistry--6 hours! Whoopee!!!!

You should just try your best. I'm a pre-med student also but will be starting my third year in the fall. General Chemistry is easy, lab is even easier because that's where you actually practice what you're learning. I consider the lectures to be harder. Once you got it, you'll be fine in O chem. You should try and take the lab with friends or someone you know. I know that medical schools accept all majors but it would be easier for you to major in something close to the field. Like if you major in bio or chem, most of the classes will count for pre-med pre-reqs. Like me, I'm majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. I don't have to do two different thing at once. But, whatever you major in, it's okay. Good luck.

Why would you be an economics major and be in pre-med? Grow some fuzz on your peaches and major in something a bit harder like chemistry, biology, or engineering. Not too many medical schools give a bean about being about to balance a checkbook. They want to know if you have the coconuts to succeed in a demanding field.

Not really. Gen chem is ridiculously easy compared to Ochem. If you get below a B in Gen Chem, I wouldn't even attempt Ochem (word of warning). When I took lab, we always goofed around...but some places, you can't do that. Eh, just take lab with some friends or something, that usually helps!

I am a pre-medical student, too! And right now I am in Biochemistry. I believe it depends on the professor whether or not the class will be hard. If you study you will do fine. And medical schools do not really care what you major in. As long as you do well in it, and all of your medical school prerequisites. So ignore the poster who said you shouldn't major in Economics.
