I always feel like I am going to throw up. It isn't normal, I have had this feeling for 4 months now. I asked my dad and he said it was normal...This happens all the time, whether I have eaten, or not eaten, drank juice, or have just woken up. I can't understand it. But I never actually throw up. I don't think this is normal, please help me!

Hi! First a few questions back:how old are you (about -I mean 15 or 20 or 30?) does this nausea have anything to do with your periods? you are not pregnant? on p-pills? any other (new?) medication??
Does anything make it better or worse?? if eating or not eating doesn't, does sleeping or running or ??? how did it start?did you change diet?school?boyfriend at that time? Do you have any other symptoms: diarrhea, constipation,losing-gaining weight? abdominal pain? headache? seeing double? difficulties swallowing? talking? hickups?
Basicly nausea can come from irritation/disturbance anywhere between abdominal cavity(=stomach with surroundings) and brain and metabolic factors like hormones can also cause nausea.
Infection in the intestines and the aftermaths (=stomach flu) can be one cause.Liver infection one, problems with kidneys likewise. Irritation in the stomach, hernia in the diaphragm which allows some part of stomach slide upward or lesion in the brainstem part of brain. Stress and psychic factors are also possible but other causes should be ruled out first. Many of the above mentioned possible causes are extremely rare.

I wrote this list of questions to try to help in sorting out where the cause might like -as an example to localize the problem like with kidney problems there can be swelling of feet, liver problems can cause puffiness, poor appetite, even yellow eye whites and so on.

I would recommend you go to a family doctor who can easily rule out a lot of the above things by simple questions and clinical exam and some lab tests and then refer you to a specialist if needed.
I would not start with the psychiatrist unless you are having a terrible stress, depression, eating or sleeping disorder or some such thing that you have noticed yourself and would be an obvious psychic cause

With best regards

I don't think it is normal either. You should try to see a doctor, especially if you are losing weight, or at your age, not gaining any weight at all.. If dad won't take you, school starts soon, so maybe you could talk to the school nurse, making sure to mention that your dad won't take you seriously enough to take you to a doc. Most likely thing to happen then is the nurse will send home a note letting your dad know that you should go see a doc, getting a little backup support is always a good thing.

My ex girlfriend said she had that problem, but I didn't really know what was up. She was only 95 lbs which is kinda unhealthy. I'd recommend the doctor if things don't improve.

You could have a stomach ulcer. Also, your hormones could be out of whack. You need to see your doctor to rule out a physical problem. Stress can also cause nausea.
