Hey, I believe it was Arlo Guthrie, and the song title is "City of New Orleans. Check it out on his web site.

this would be "City of New Orleans" by Arlo Guthrie....yes, the same Arlo Guthrie who sang "Alice's Restaurant" and was the son of Woody Guthrie who wrote "This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land"
