A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. ~Author Unknown
It takes a lot of work from the face to let out a smile, but just think what good smiling can bring to the most important muscle of the body... the heart. ~Author Unknown

This is very true. In the past I hung out with this friend that was very negative and I started to change. I became some what negative until people started to ask me why I used to be happy and positive all the time and now I'm getting negative. I realized it was coming from hanging out with this negative friend of mine. I talked to him about this and of course he never thought he was that way. As for me, he is no longer a friend. I am much happier with happy people.

Sometimes. I know a few people who are so miserable, that they'll do anything to make the people around them feel the same way. And they always hate the happy funny person. I have way too many people like that in my family.

Yes, it is true. Not totally though. If u hang with negative people, u won't TURN negative, or vice versa...u'll just be positive or negative around them...to suit the situation since they're ur friends or whatever. But usually people like to hang with others with their similar temperment.

yes, that is why people really shouldn't hang around people who are down all the time, or people who do drugs, or swear, or drink or cheat or smell, you will begin to take on their persona and slip unknowingly into the deep depth of their despair which becomes yours, but....once they have grown out of it, will you, or will you remain their with no friend or buddy to pull you up out of the muddy bog you have put yourself in.

I work at trying to get someone to like me who obviously didn't at first blush. I also can alter a persons mood. That's the key ... make them happier ... don't let them make you un-happy.
