Please don't ask Red Cross to help find him unless it is a family ER, such as a death in the family. They help with notifying Soldiers in cases such as this but not just to find someone for you.
If you know his unit you could locate an address for it through an internet search and mail a letter to their headquarters company which should get to him.
It is unfortunate his family is choosing to with hold his information - you could try asking and explaining why you want to contact him which may reassure them and lead them to giving you his contact info.
Unless you have an AKO account - Army Knowledge Online or know his social security number finding him may be very difficult. AKO accounts aren't available to everyone - only military, their dependents, and DoD civilians. There used to be a service called Army locator but that may be defunct now with AKO up and running. You used to be able to locate through social security numbers through Army locator. I haven't tried it so can't verify if it exists any longer.
I would try contacting the unit through its Headquarters Company who can then pass on correspondence to him. A recruiter might be able to help as they have AKO access but I am not sure a recruiter would want to be in that position but it never hurts to ask.

I would try to contact that soldiers First Sergeant first. They should be more than willing to give you their mailing address. If not them, try the bases PA office. Coming from one soldier in Iraq, it would mean the world to get a letter from anyone...especially a girl if the soldier is a guy ;-) That is very nice of you to do and I am sure he will greatly appreciate it.

I think you might be able to find out through the military. Not sure if they will actually give you an address but they might give you a general PO box or something. Maybe try looking in the US government section of the phone book and dialing an 800 number(?)

well if the soldier in question didn't give you this information before he left and hasn't written you since maybe the soldier doesn't want to hear form you without knowing your situation its hard to tell sounds like the family doesn't like you for some reason maybe protecting their son or daughter from any hardships distracting their concentration from their job could cost them their lives or someone Else's life or limb maybe ask them to mail it for you is about all you can do in that letter you should ask the soldier if he doesn't want to hear from you and to write you and tell you ether way answer is no you cant get it

Mandi find out what post he was stationed at state side and call the "post locater" for that post. If there is still a such thing they can give it to you. The number will be listed in the phone book for that post or base.

Each military branch has a service wide locator.
If you know the basic information about him they can tell you where to send mail for that serviceman/woman.
