Flatland... a simple math book introducing thinking about dimensions. It is well written and fun. (and SHORT!)

I would recommend Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The beginning part is a little slow, but it gets really good during the last two parts. It really makes you think about society and where we're headed too.

I had to read Big Fish for my high school as an incoming freshman I say that was a pretty short book.

Depends on what subject you want to read about. Night by Elie Weisel is a wonderful book but it does some adult content (and I don't mean sex)

i had to read the Odyssey for my 9th grade summer reading.....i liked it though..we also read mice and men,to kill a mocking bird, night, go ask alice, it happened to nancy, anna's diary and this one tree book i forgot the name......
