What type of braces???

Question

I have to get braces but am trying to get what is the best and less noticeable. Please dont say invisiline either. Believe me I wanted them but it wont work out. I found this website: http://www.archwired.com/ceramic_vs_metal_braces.htm
that talks about the different types. Does anyone know about Lingual braces (go behind the teeth)? How about the white ones? Ive also been told about Damon 3 System and I have no idea what that is. If you know anything about these such as cost, durability, how long it takes and how well it works... I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks

Invisalign is a trademarked name for a proprietary method of orthodontic therapy, developed by Align Technology, Incorporated. It is promoted as an "invisible" way of straightening teeth without using traditional braces, instead using a series of custom fabricated aligners designed using 3-D technology to gradually and sequentially move teeth to their desired positions. The principle behind the orthodontic tooth movement is based on Kesling's setup using the positioner.

The primary advantage of Invisalign is cosmetic; the aligners are difficult to detect, virtually invisible, and therefore has become particularly popular among adults who want to straighten their teeth without the unflattering look of traditional metal braces (commonly worn by children and adolescents, and therefore carrying the connotation of immaturity). Another advantage over traditional braces is that the aligners can easily be removed for eating, and brushing teeth. The treatment typically requires fewer visits to an orthodontist, as well.

The treatment price is often the same or less than traditional braces. Treatment price is set by the dentist or orthodontist, although the cost of treatment varies considerably by doctor. Some treatments are priced as low as $2000. Typical orthodontic insurance may cover $1000-1500 of treatment.

Average treatment time is less than a year, depending on the complexity of the treatment. Simple treatments (minor crowding, minor spacing) may be as short as six months. In addition, being removable, they must be worn constantly to avoid delaying the treatment process.

These "clear" treatment retainers are most suitable for skeletal and dental Class I, mildly crowded orthodontic cases with good profile (less than 3 mm of crowding) that normally can be treated with removable retainers. Compliance with these appliances is necessary, and the patient is expected to wear them for at least 20 hours per day. Unlike traditional dental appliances, though, most patients are actually motivated to wear these appliances because of their superior esthetics. There is an advantage for patients using these appliances if they have periodontal or gum problems because, unlike appliances like braces, these removable appliances allow easy daily oral hygiene practices.

If one has a particularly difficult case, it is advisable to seek a proper consultation and diagnosis from an orthodontist prior to starting treatment. Generally, orthodontists can perform more complex movements than dentists and can supplement these clear retainers with a brief period of fixed appliances (traditional braces) to either attain complex tooth movements prior to starting or detailing the dentition at the conclusion of treatment.

Some orthodontists use attachments occasionally, a small piece of composite affixed to strategic teeth, to help move the teeth more quickly and to produce certain tooth movements. The attachments are sometimes referred to as 'buttons' by dentists and orthodontists and are removed manually at the end of treatment. These "buttons" are normally tooth colored.

OrthoClear is the alternative to Invisalign and the company claims that their retainers are clearer and more esthetic. This is a relatively new company that has set up its goal to compete with Invisalign

get the metal braces, they give your teeth a colorful smile. I had braces and i looked at http://www.wildsmiles4you.com/ they have different shaped brackets and everything. You can get different colors every month and some orthodontists can put coloring on the wire going across your mouth so maybe you can get that in wite so it will be less noticeable.

With those lingual braces, food may get stuck in between in your wire causing your tooth to decay (if its there for a while) and you dont even know it because you cant see them.

i am 22 and i just got damon 3 braces..i got them about three months ago and my teeth have moved alot. my braces are supposed to come off in november 07..so my treatment time is only abt 17 months..
so far i like them because my teeth were messed up really bad.. and they have moved so much in just 3 months!! so im happy with them..but thats just my opinion..ive heard lingual bracs are good coz u cant see them but they are alot more painful and very expensive..and oh i paid $4600 for the whole treatment..

Hi,Im due to get Damon3 Braces on the 11th Sept, not long to go. I have been told they are much faster in straightening teeth im looking at having them on for approx 14-16 months.

First of all, be careful judging girls for not liking your type when you clearly have a "type" too. You just need to be patient. One day, you will meet a girl that you like that likes you. Just enjoy high school and don't worry about little things like this. Also, things seem a lot worse than they really are late at night. You are probably exaggerating a little and worrying about problems that don't really matter.

i have damon braces for about 2 weeks now. theyre supposed to be less painful and its supposed to move faster than the regular braces. my friends also commented that they look like diamonds (lol ?).

Just get regular silver brackets/braces. You can change the bands different colors every month.
