like when you come across someone with a major attitude and just gives you the cold shoulder does that mean that ,,that certain individual is scared of his emotions and does not want to beleive how he's feeling.

People have ISSUES! Unless they were fortunate enough to have received love, understanding and a good example of how others should be treated while they were growing up, many people walk around with huge chips on their shoulders. Some were mistreated or abused as children, some grew up in homes without affection, some experienced terrible hardships. Whenever I see someone who is just plain mean I always wonder what the hell happened to them to make them like that and I wonder what it is they are suffering or what pain exists inside for them to be the way they are. It's sad really.

Not neccessarily. People vary in so many ways. Sometimes its because they think they are better than someone, but of course it doesn't make it right or true. Stick to being yourself and you will meet people that will admire you for it. There isnt any need to be any of the above you had stated, its only due to ignorance.

He may be in a mood because of someone hurting him earlier in a relationship. He is being very cautious about letting his true feelings show. He tried it a few times, and probably got burned.

not necessarily, it could be a lot of things. Sometimes, self righteousness, or misunderstanding.
Alot of times its just lack of social skills.
They don't know how to act, so they come off as a pain.
