You people should be ashamed of yourselves for not listing "Pride of the Yankees". This was the best of the baseball biographies.
Field of Dreams was a great movie, but loses points for making Shoeless Joe Jackson a right-handed batter... talk about a lousy research team, what were they thinking?? That's about the most idiotic mistake you can make in a baseball movie.
(In "Pride of the Yankees" they were able to make the right-handed Gary Coooper's fielding and hitting exploits look natural by reversing the film, as Gehrig batted and threw left-handed.. they had backward letters and numbers on his uniform, and had him play third base, which looked like a left-hander playing first base after the film was flipped).
The original Bad News Bears from 1976 was a fun movie as well... that was a good group of young kids they got for that one. I refuse to waste my time watching the remake though... or any of the 'sequels'. When that movie came out, we thought that EVERY neighborhood should have a cute girl like Tatum O'Neal who can also play baseball with the best of 'em!
I liked "Rookie of the Year" too...fun movie, every kid's baseball fantasy (even non-Cubs fans)
Eight Men Out was excellent. I didin't think they could make a good movie on that subject, but they pulled it off quite nicely.
This is one of those movies I can always watch, any time it's on, from any point in the story. But I think you have to already know the Black Sox story in order to understand the movie. If you don't know the story and the players, it'd be easy to get lost in that one..

A League of Their Own is a great movie about an era in baseball when there was a women's professional baseball league. It was during WWII. The movie stars Tom Hanks, Madonna, Geena Davis, and Rosie O'Donnel among others. It's a really good movie.

Bull Durham is every true baseball fan fav movie. Even Baseball players love it. I know because commentators seem to ask them what their fav baseball movie is, most of them say "Bull Durham." I know a MLB player that can recite every line in a scene in the movie.
I have yet to see it though. I heard it is a must see.

I'll probably lose what little credibility I have by saying this, but my two favorites are "Field of Dreams" and the very PG, very Disney "Angels in the Outfield."
Hey, I'm a girl. I'm allowed to like sappy baseball movies, aren't I?

Field of Dreams without question. The book Shoeless Joe is a must-read as well. The story-line is both intriguing and inspiring. You can't go wrong
