Usually, when you're coming, others see you walking towards
them... when you're not, they see your back moving away from them --- or they don't see you at all.... as in if they call you on the telephone and say "I'm sorry, I can't come."

Pleeeeeezzzzeee tell me this is what you meant.

But, if they say "I'm coming! I'm coming!" Chances are, they're
coming.

They will know you are coming if you call in advance.
if you don't let them know you are coming, it will be a surprise.
