They have sex half the time, get their meals easy and free, have no social problems, and share the whole ocean together. They are truely free to enjoy their life and seem happy. Who's wiser?

What makes you think that they have no social problems? Have you ever asked one? You can't tell just by looking at them; an alien wouldn't know that we have social problems just by watching people argue. He wouldn't understand the words being said, or the physical gestures being used.

Similarly, the auditory and body languages of dolphins will not be anything like their human equivilants (if they even have human equivilants). Dolphins are a completely different species. You can't just look at them and say, "gee, they sure do get along great!". Our standards of interpersonal behavior do not apply to them.

Sure, they seem happy. Are you sure, though? Are you confident that they even have the same concept of "happiness" that we do? They're not human, remember - you can't assume things like that about them.

And whether or not they're intelligent, they can't make or use "technology" as we think of it. Their environment and their bodies preclude that.
They have been observed using a simple tool, though; it's been found that they use rocks for...something. I can't remember what.

I greatly doubt dolphins are more intelligent than we are. There's simply no evidence to suggest that they even posses an intellectual capacity that is equal to that of humans, much less one that is greater.

Plus, if they were that smart, do you really think that the american navy would be able to train them to search mine fields and carry bombs in war? I don't think so.

I thought you might appreciate this quote from Douglas Adams:

"Man always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much-the wheel, New York, wars and so on-while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man - for precisely the same reason."

They do use technology! Like mearuring distances with ultrasound. But the lack of hands is indeed a drawback when you wish to build - say - a space ship.....
By the way: They do also have social problems, but they solve those in a more civilized manner than mankind.
Now YOU think who is more "intelligent"....

uh maybe, maybe not. because if they had no technology their wouldn't have to ability to learn which is the sole reason of our survival so far. so dolphins, even if they were smarter than us, are unable to evolve (lack of the required tools) to a technological envoronments.
i can't say i don't envy them, but one thing is for sure if I see all dolphins suddenly leave earth... I'm getting prepared for my last years!!!!! (did u c that movie?)

Most technology, electronics in particular, don't work well in salt water.
