may i also add that these are good kids that are good students and my town is very small and there is no where they can go thats closeand all he was doing was coming to my house to visit my son. they just turned this kid into a criminal by giving him this probation on his record. is just so sad.

I agree! 646 DOLLARS what is that about??? I blame those old people sitting in the city hall, they think skating is some kind of "delinquent activity" because they see pictures of street skating and immediately assume that ALL skaters are "thugs" What they need to do is educate themselves about the sport and build a public skatepark. I say that you should get together with all the other cool moms and demand from the town that a skatepark be built for the kids. It would be super sad if the only reason why your son coulnd't skate is because of some stupid laws. Hell it would shatter my world if I couldn't skate everyday. SKATING SHOULD NOT BE ILLEGAL

That's insane. They are tough on skateboarders in my town, but not that tough. They just stop their cars and talk to use and warn us, about what? I dont know. I think it is especially unfair for people who actually use it as a form of transportation. You should try to appeal the ticket. it just isnt right is the kid wasnt doing anything wrong like doing tricks on public property or being mischievous.

I know, my son is 19 now but has been a skateboarder for years and come to find out there are alot of laws against them.... and we are in a semi small town so they really pick on the kids here... my son has gotten into trouble with his skateboard too.... he actually travels to other cities to skate so they don't get into trouble here.... It always pissed me off too... what do they expect the kids to do with themselves... then they complain if they get into trouble... they get ya comin and goin....

Well that's 100 percent BS right there. ^^
Well I say that you get get a patistion on that "Law" Or Do the Rebel thing of leading a army of skateboarders down to your Town hall demanding the law be revoked or you skate in front of the town Hall for hours on end. ^^

Its not that he was on a skateboard

What was he doing wrong on a skateboard?

All places that do not allow skateboard activity have this clearly marked(a sign posted).. If this were the case then he broke the law. and that is where the ticket came from.....

Or maybe your area has a strict safety law. Like Helmet, knee pads, elbo pads, and so on.......believe it or not some cities have these laws.
If this were the case, and he wasn't wearing his safety gear, then presto-----ticket...

umm in some places skateboarding is illegal and even if its only one street ive gotten a ticket but it was only for not wearing a helmet. ive never got caught skating in a not allowed skating place yet...thats why there is stickers and jackets and shirts and **** that have the little logo that says "skateboarding is not a crime" or "ima skateboarder, arrest me"

well any kid today that is into skateboarding knows where they can and cannot skate. that is just a given. but that is why they make local skateparks and public places that they can go and skate for a small dollar amount.

i think thats rediculous. all it is is serfing on wheels and using the ground. It like saying serfing is illegal. i think skating is an art and a good exercise. more kids should get into it! it should be smiled upon, not frowned upon. tis a shame it has come to this!

i think that if you ride a skateboard, you need to wear a helmet. other than that, there is no reason that your son's friend should get a ticket. unless hes was doing tricks and grinding on property, like curbs or handrails.
